How mantra calms the mind gives you a good nights sleep

Mantra is an incredible tool to help you get a good nights sleep

Do you find that you’re sleepy and tired in the evening, then when your head hits the pillow, your mind goes berserk?  Do you long for a good nights sleep?

Your mind just won’t let you off the hook and your ego is working overtime.  Your ego fills you with envy, fear, jealousy, empty desires.  It believes there’s not going to be enough for you.  It has you working day and night worrying about money and who loves you. It worries about how many likes you’ve got on your recent post on Facebook.

If you want to sleep at night, you have to get the mind under control.  It needs to get out of beta egocentric brain waves and into alpha calm intuitive brain waves.  Then the mind will calm down and you’ll get a good nights sleep.

How do you do that?

There are several things you can do to get your mind under control.  The first is get in touch with the breath.  I’ve written a number of articles on the breath and how you can change your thought pattern using the breath.  You’ll find them here in my blog.  The second thing to is use mantra. Using mantra and the breath combined is even better.

The mind is made up of words, sounds and thoughts which are all based on vibration and consist of sound.

We translate feelings and emotions through words into sound and allow these sound vibrations to go deep inside of us.  They leave a mark on the subconscious mind.  This mark conditions our behaviours, both positive and negative.   It creates a conditioned response to external situations and forces us to react mechanically rather than intelligently.   Instead of coming from a place of wisdom and presence, we get caught up in the past and make decisions that we often regret.  This will keep you tossing and turning all night long.

Mantra works in the same ways as words. It has the potential to change the way we think and feel.  If we change the nature of the sound patterns in the mind, we can change the nature of the mind. If we do that, we become calmer, less afraid and sleep well at night.

Yoga and Ayurveda provide us with a practical way to change our psychology.  Ayurveda doesn’t require therapy to dig up the dirt and garbage of our past.  All we need to do is learn how to shine the light and plant positive seeds.  That will bring intelligent thoughts like beautiful flowers in the garden of the mind.

Emotions such as greed, hate and jealousy are like poison and much worse than eating junk or toxic food.

Love, peace and patience are like emotional nectar to the human being and promote a calm mind.

Therefore, if the mind is made up of sound vibration, the best way to change the mind is through vibration. Hence the power of mantra. If we use a mantra with intention, passion, motivation, concentration and discipline, it will break down the deep seated karmic patterns that keep us blocked.  There’s no need to worry about the details all you have to do is change the frequency of the vibration.  If you practice for long enough, the mantra will come up spontaneously instead of the old negative, desperate thought pattern.

If that happens, the mind will relax from beta, busy brain waves, to alpha.  It will be more relaxed and connected to the intuition brain waves, enabling the mind to settle and sleep well.

When the mind is in the alpha state, it will connect us to the divine light, inner life force and give us greater power of attention and focus.

If you’ve never done mantra before, you can try with So Hum.

Here’s a simple recording to get you started.

I’d like to share this research on mantra here too.
